Job Summary:

The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s operations during the overnight shift. This includes ensuring the smooth check-in/check-out process for guests, managing front desk operations, handling guest requests, performing administrative and accounting duties, and maintaining the hotel's security overnight. The Night Auditor ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and assists in preparing reports for the following day. All outlets are expected to balance and close at their end of each shift, however any items left unresolved must be attended to and closed by the Night Auditor, before setting all interfaces towards the next business day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Service
  • Greet and assist guests with check-ins, check-outs, and inquiries in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns promptly, ensuring an excellent guest experience.
  • Maintain communication with the Front Desk team, ensuring that all information about guests and requests is up to date, and any outstanding items are followed through.
  • Audit & Accounting:
  • Perform the nightly audit by reviewing, balancing, and reconciling all guest accounts, ensuring accuracy of all transactions.
  • Process and verify daily transactions, including charges, payments, and adjustments.
  • Generate end-of-day reports and assist in preparing daily financial summaries for hotel management.
  • Ensure accurate posting of room charges, taxes, and other fees.
  • Security & Safety:
  • Monitor the hotel's safety and security overnight, ensuring that all emergency procedures are in place.
  • Ensure all doors and access points are secure, conducting property walks to ensure the hotel's safety.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, or emergencies promptly, following safety protocols.
  • Communication & Documentation:
  • Communicate effectively with other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations (Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver reports on daily financial operations and any guest issues for the morning staff.
  • Complete any other paperwork and documentation required for the nightly shift.
  • Miscellaneous:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk area.
  • Help with administrative tasks, including filing, maintaining logs, and ensuring accurate records.
  • Promote hotel services and amenities to guests, enhancing their experience.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality or related field is a plus.
  • Working experience and knowledge of Opera Cloud an asset.
  • Experience: Previous hotel front desk or guest service experience preferred. Experience with accounting or auditing tasks is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with hotel property management systems (PMS) and basic accounting software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to focus on accuracy while performing financial audits and documentation.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick-thinking and the ability to address guest complaints or operational challenges efficiently.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work overnight shifts, which may include standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods. Ability to lift light to moderate weight (up to 25 lbs).

Work Schedule:

  • Night shift (typically 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM or as scheduled).
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on hotel needs.
